Human Resource and Employee Engagement Specialist

The Human Resources Specialist plays a critical role in managing and supporting various HR functions, including recruitment, employee relations, benefits administration, and compliance. This position is responsible for ensuring a positive work environment, fostering employee engagement, community engagement, and implementing HR policies and procedures effectively. The ideal candidate will be a proactive problem-solver with strong people skills and a solid understanding of HR best practices and employment laws.
Human Resources (50%):
- Recruitment and Onboarding:
- Collaborate with department managers to identify hiring needs and develop job descriptions.
- Post job openings and screen resumes.
- Coordinate the interview process and facilitate communication between candidates and hiring teams.
- Oversee the onboarding process for new hires, including orientation and training.
- Prepare, track and off board employee terminations.
- Serve as a point of contact for employee HR inquiries and concerns.
- Address employee concerns and resolve conflicts in a fair and effective manner.
- Foster a positive work environment through employee engagement initiatives and feedback mechanisms.
- Conduct exit interviews and analyze turnover data to recommend improvements.
- Administer employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and other benefits.
- Assist employees with benefits enrollment, open enrollment, claims, and issues.
- Monitor and process BPAS 401K plan including being on the Investment Committee.
- Prepare benefit sheets when there are changes to benefits.
- Stay updated on benefits trends and compliance requirements.
- Compensation Administration:
- Process Payroll.
- Monitor overtime, unpaid time, and consecutive week vacation.
- Prepare annual compensation sheets.
- Conduct market research to ensure competitive salary and benefits packages.
- Compliance and Record-Keeping:
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records and documentation.
- Prepare and submit reports related to HR metrics, compliance, and audits.
- Update job descriptions as needed.
- Training and Development:
- Track and deliver training programs related to company policies, procedures, and professional development.
- Identify training needs and work with Bank managers or internal resources to address them.
- Assist in developing and updating HR policies and procedures.
- Communicate and enforce company policies and ensure consistent adherence of policies across the organization.
Employee/Community Engagement (50%):
- Develop and execute employee engagement strategies to enhance job satisfaction and productivity.
- Create and manage programs that promote a positive workplace culture.
- Plan employee events (Christmas Party, Employee Appreciation) within assigned budget.
- Track employee training and development assigned by their managers.
- Conduct surveys and gather feedback to assess employee satisfaction and address concerns.
- Organize and facilitate team-building activities, workshops, and training sessions.
- Collaborate with management to implement employee development and career growth programs.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with local community organizations, non-profits, and other stakeholders.
- Plan and coordinate community outreach events, volunteer opportunities, and sponsorships.
- Manage donation requests and sponsorships and relay information to Market President. Use receptionist as gatekeep and record keeper.
- Monitor and report on the impact of community engagement initiatives including monitoring for CRA.
- Communication and Collaboration:
- Serve as a point of contact for employee and community inquiries.
- Develop and maintain communication channels to keep employees informed about engagement activities and opportunities.
- Work closely with marketing and other departments to align engagement efforts with organizational goals.
- Prepare reports and presentations on engagement activities and outcomes for senior management.
- Manage and track Donations, Community Involvement, and Training Budgets.
